A 30% Savings to Study in Canada

This year and in the coming years Canada is and will be the ideal place to study.  In fact, American students are crossing the border in large numbers to take advantage of the decreased value of the Canadian dollar.

Canada already boasts lower tuition rates and cost of living expenses than its American counterparts and this makes Canada an attractive study destination.  But nowadays, the Canadian dollar is worth about 30% less than the American dollar which makes studying in Canada, from both an academic and financial perspective, even more attractive than ever before.  Thirty percent less in the value of the Canadian dollar over the US dollar means that whatever your currency you can get a world recognised degree for less money than if you studied in the US.  That is a good value for your educational investment.

If you are still looking for an undergraduate program, you can still meet the admission deadlines for several Canadian universities.  For example, you can choose from over 200 undergraduate program in 18 faculties at the prestigious University of Alberta, and there deadline is March 1st for international students.

Canada’s Engineering Diploma Programs That Can Lead to a Degree

Hands on Studying in CanadaIf your dream is to study in Canada where you can obtain a Bachelor’s in Engineering degree, but you don’t have the marks to meet the higher academic requirements of a major university in Canada, do not despair.  There are many opportunities to study in Canada where you can get an Engineering Diploma and then get credit transfer at a Canadian university where you can complete your Bachelor’s degree.  Most of these programs are 2 + 2 where you take a 2 year diploma and 2 years to complete the degree at a university.

Here are some great engineering diplomas that can lead to an engineering degree:

Power Engineering Technology – This is a 2 year program and graduates can get credit transfer to some universities both in the US and Canada.  Deadline for submission of application was February 1st, 2016 so if you are in Grade 11 or doing your O levels, then you can look forward to applying to this program for the 2017-18 year.  Applications may still be considered for January 2017.

Power Engineers can work in industrial and electrical power plants and commercial buildings where they can work with boilers, turbines and condensers in steam engine plants as well as with internal combustion engines.

Mechanical Engineering Technology – This is a 3 year program and graduates can get credit transfer to some universities both in the US and Canada.  Deadline for submission of application was February 1st, 2016 so if you are in Grade 11 or doing your O levels, then you can look forward to applying to this program for the 2017-18 year.  Applications may still be considered or January 2017.

Mechanical Engineers apply scientific and engineering principles for design and fabrication of mechanical apparatus and systems.  Employment can be found in automotive, aerospace, food processing and manufacturing industries.

Engineering diploma programs are offered by polytechnic institutions where tuition is often much less than that found at a major university.  Co-op work programs are a featured component of these programs.  Engineering diploma students are highly sought after in the workplace even without an Engineering Bachelor’s degree.

If you want to study in Canada, this is a good place to start, studying a engineering diploma program.

How to Be Recognised by the Boss

Are you struggling along in your job; it’s mediocre at best and it looks like you will never get a promotion?  Although there several ways to get recognised by the boss, or better still, become the boss, one way is by producing quality well-written reports and other documentation.

Effective business communication should be grammatically correct, well organised and it should use appropriate vocabulary.  Documents that meet these requirements speak loudly about you as it reflects:

  • A level of professional competency and proficiency that others do not have
  • Strong values of carefulness and integrity so necessary in a competitive business world
  • Strong commitment to the company and its corporate image
  • A pride in a job well done; the best results and product matters to you

Good communication, whether oral or written is noticed by superiors and clients.

Of course, not all of us are proficient writers so if you have a report, a business letter or any other business communication that you need to produce, you may want to consider the services of a reputable editing service that will ensure that your document meets international English standards and that it is top-notch, a cut above the rest.

The Hands-On Learning Advantage

Hands on Studying in CanadaPractical know-how and theory must go hand in hand; at least that is the experience of University of Alberta professor Jeffery Kavenaugh.  An award winning professor, Kavenaugh is currently designing drones as a learning tool.

What are some of the advantages of practical experience?

  • Students Have Different Learning Styles – some students learn from the textbook but others need that hands-on experience to learn better
  • Gives Students and Edge in a Competitive World – if you get that practical experience while studying, you have a completive advantage over other unemployed peers.
  • Helps Land Jobs in the Industry – In Canada, industries want experienced employees.  If you are studying in Canada, it is difficult to get experience unless education and practical application go hand-in-hand.
  • Improves Student/Teacher Interaction – Students and teachers are more apt to interact and discuss the subject at hand.

The University of Alberta is a study in Canada institution where you can get both the practical and the theory by participating in their Co-op programs, internships or being part of an innovative classroom like that taught by Jeffery Kavanaugh.

A Word in Time Saves Nine

AREC Editing ServicesGood communication is essential to business for many reasons; one of them being that it saves valuable time.

What do I mean by good communication?  There are three components to communicating your message well; correct grammar, suitable and well placed vocabulary, proper organisation and sufficient content.  If your documents and messages have this, your business will upturn.

Good Communication will:

Save time – A well delivered message means that what was intended to be said has been delivered and relayed correctly, thus reducing confusion whereby the message must be either resent or translated by someone in the organisation as to what should have been communicated.

Reduce Errors – if the document, such as a how-to manual is not correctly worded, then errors in production can occur

Increase Productivity – Whatever the document used to communicate information; if it is grammatically correct and appropriate, if well-placed vocabulary has been used, then production is up.  Your employees understand what they need to do and clients understand the high quality of the product or service you are providing.

If English is not your strong suit, then you will want to solicit the services of a good editing firm to provide you with their expertise in editing your documents and letters.  Alberta Rose Education Centre has editing services that will cover all your editing needs.

Stuck on Maths??

study mathI meet so many students who want to study abroad but don’t study Maths because they don’t like it or it is just hard to do.  So they avoid that senior Maths class.  I even meet Business streamed students who take Accounting, Economics, Business Studies but no Maths; and then they want to study abroad.

They have really undermined their chances of being accepted to a university or college in Canada or internationally.

My advice is to take that Maths class, even if you don’t get an A-star grade.  Maybe you need to settle for a B, but it can get you into the desired program.

The University of Alberta in Canada recognises that Maths is not everyone’s strongest subject, so they have provided the Decima Robinson Support Centre for Mathematical and Statistical Sciences.  They provide homework help to struggling Maths students.  The student needs to work; they provide the tools and resources for the students to find the answers.  But the right answer is the name of the game; right?  And also how you arrived at the right answer is equally important.

Up to six Teaching Assistants are available to help and students can just drop in.

Business, economics and science students will have to study Maths courses in their first year and even subsequent years, but they do not need to fear failure in Math because help is available to any student who wants to learn and get good grades.

The University of Alberta cares about its students where they provide a nurturing environment for learners.
